Item Description
"Darkness and Light" is an abstract alcohol ink painting done on yupo paper.
Created by Winnipeg Artist Cindy Rothery, she wanted to create something with a fade away effect, bringing in both darkness and light. Utilizing several techniques to blend the colors as well as to create texture, the piece was finished by adding fine details with gel pens. Sealed with several layers of UV protectant varnish.
11" x 14" including frame.
Alcohol Ink is not lightfast and as with any fine art should be kept out of direct sunlinght.
Cindy chose to be a part of the online auction because she wants to be able to help people and animals (She has also donated paintings to several animal rescues) during these difficult times.
Cindy Lou Rothery is a self taught emerging artist and entrepreneur whom is inspired by nature, landscapes, florals and animals. Cindy began exploring alcohol inks in 2017 and quickly became enthralled with this vibrant and fluid medium, creating both abstract and representational pieces.
Currently Cindy works full time with at risk youth. In addition to having her own small business, she is a volunteer art instructor with autistic and developmentally challenged youth and adults. Cindy created and runs an art program at the Manitiba Youth Center and also teaches floral and landscape alcohol ink painting lessons for a local art supply business in her community. Additionally, her artwork is carried at several local businesses. In 2018, one of Cindy’s alcohol ink painting was selected by a jury to be exhibited in Society of Canadian Artists exhibit in Toronto. In January 2020, Cindy had her first solo art exhibition at Cre8ery Gallery. Cindy currently has an exhibition of about 30 pieces at Framing and Art Center in Winnipeg.
Recently Tim Holtz, a signature product designer for Ranger Industries (alcohol inks) purchased one of Cindy's paintings to display at Ranger trade shows.
