Item Description
"The Three Vinegar Tasters" fine art print originated as a Seiko Morningstar water color. It pictures the Buddha, Confucius and Lao Tzu sampling a pot of vinegar.
To Confucius, life is sour, not like it was in "the old days." To the Buddha, life is bitter, suffering is normal, and we need to get on the eight-fold path to gain release. To Lao Tzu, life is sweet. The message: enjoy the moment, rejoice in the way things are.
This theme, originally Chinese, is one of the most popular paintings related to Taoism. It was made even more famous when the book "Tao of Pooh" referenced it.
ZenBrush: enlightening and spirited Zen-themed cards, paintings, and prints.
