Handmade by The Mindful Menace herself in Kildare, Ireland, Michelle Ging says, "Everything I make is made with longevity and durability in mind as I think this is so important for sustainability. Durable fabrics, upholstery quality threads and double stitching."
This Buckwheat Meditation Cushion is made from durable upholstery fabric offcuts. Her parents run a two-person upholstery business. They end up with cuts of fabric that they cannot use so Ms. Ging repurposes them for these beautiful and very durable meditation/floor cushions.
Just like you need a proper bed for a good night's sleep, a high-quality meditation cushion is a must if you want to establish a consistent practice. This cushion is designed to lift your hips allowing them to roll slightly forward, supporting the natural curve of your low back. Once your spine is aligned, the rest of your body follows naturally.
Ms. Ging says, "The cushions are filled with washed organic buckwheat hulls. It's sustainable as it's a farming byproduct meaning the farmer would usually throw it away as it's just the shell of the wheat he needs. It lasts a serious long time of 10 to 20 years before it needs to be replaced and moulds to your shape while giving great support for your spine so safe to say I'm very pleased with it."
