Research Project: Effects of Nature on the Brain
"This piece was inspired by the amazing research done by Ty Mckinney in the effects of nature on the brain. As an Indigenous artist, much of my inspiration for art comes from the land. I was taught by my elders to have a reciprocal relationship with the land and to treat her (Mother Earth) as a relative. Upon reflecting on the research Ty had done, I was inspired by the idea of the language nature speaks. If we are true with her, we are able to listen to her words and communicate back. This inherently creates the most important relationship we can have, a relationship of love, caring, respect and understanding with our world."
