A TRUFFLE ADVENTURE WITH OLIVIA AND ONE OF HER TRUFFLE HUNTING DOGS

You and a freind will hunt the Virginia Truffle Truffiere, following our truffle dog as they track down the elusive scent of the black truffle. 

You will have the opportunity to dig beneath the oak trees for a locally grown treasure and photograph your dig alongside one of our four-legged team members. Olivia will teach you the techniques of hunting with a partner dog, digging, and assessing ripeness. 

 
The hunt begins with light refreshments at the bonfire pit.  Then, your hunt begins! Allow 1 to 2 hours for your hunt. Upon return to the house, more refreshments! Next, you'll tour the lab. Olivia will then show you the process of cleaning and storing fresh truffle. 

Virginia Truffles, LLC is a family owned and operated business. In 2007 we began our nursery, inoculating seedings with Tuber melanosporum. Our first acre of trees was planted shortly after.  Our first truffle was found in 2018. Production continues to increase every year.

We offer locally grown Perigord truffle, in season, imported truffle throughout most of the year, inoculated seedlings for Truffiere establishment, and full consultation services for cultivation success. In addition, our farm hosts led truffle hunts during our harvest season. Using the latest in science and technology to aid cultivation success, DNA testing to ensure our products are genetically contaminant free, and our vast global network of partnerships, we offer top quality products and services to our clients within and outside our Northern Hemisphere harvest season.

Hunts are exclusively held during the Virginia truffle harvest season, November through March. They are held every other Saturday and by reservation only. All hunts have a maximum of 6 guests. This allows us to give you the attention each guest deserves.

Please leave your dogs at home. They are distracting to the working dogs.  We invite children to enjoy the thrill of a truffle hunt but we urge clients to bring only children that can participate responsibly in all activities. There is a lot of walking through uneven turf. A hunt also includes interaction with our animals. For the safety of both children and our animals we urge the utmost care be taken.
