Item Description

The 270-acre Stuart Farm in Stratham was determined eligible for the National Register of Historic Places as "an important local example of the evolution of a large and productive coastal New Hampshire farm." Located on the tidal Squamscott River in the Great Bay Estuary, the ecologically significant farm has inspired many over the years, including American Impressionist painter Childe Hassam.

On this exclusive tour for up to six people, guided by co-owner and former NH Agriculture Commissioner Lorraine Stuart Merrill. you will meet the herd of 200 dairy cows and see the land that sustains them.  Areas of focus can be tailored to the interests of the winning bidder: stories of the changes in farming, buildings and owner families of this unique property; conservation of the agricultural and natural landscape; the role of milk production in our regional and local food systems; and more. Children welcome with adults. Take home a gift of our cooperative’s award-winning Cabot Cheddar.
