Item Description

"A Martin isn't just a guitar. It's playable history; part of a long line of legendary instruments stretching back to the company's beginnings in 1833. Our guitars were strummed by Civil War soldiers around campfires, helped shape the sound of modern music at the turn of the 20th century, and were played by music's first superstars like Jimmie Rodgers and Gene Autry. Decades later, Martins floored the crowd at Woodstock, then took center stage on MTV Unplugged, and can be heard on countless classic and contemporary songs across all genres of music." www.martinguitar.com

Here we offer a 1927 4-string Tenor Guitar produced by C.F. Martin & Company, serial #32929. The mahogany case has its original finish, play wear to the top. The guitar is in fair condition with one very thin top crack that appears very stable. No evidence of any repair work. Three Grover tuners are original to the instrument, one has been replaced but is period corrrect.  Recently restrung at The Music Emporium in Lexington, MA.  Tuned in 5ths presently, but can be tuned to match the top four strings of the guitar (low-to-high: DGBE).

Ian Goldstein of The Music Emporium says, "This is a lovely sounding example of a 1920s-vintage Martin mahogany tenor."
