Meg Mercier began her studies at the historic  Boston Fenway studios in 1986 under the tutelage of Paul Ingbretson.  Paul was a student of  R. H. Ives Gammel who in turn studied under William Paxton.  The Boston School of painting can be traced from pupil to master back through Paxton, Edmund Tarbell, and Frank Bensen all the way to its roots in 18th century France and the Paris studios of Jacques Louis David.

Studying with Mr. Ingbretson in his north light atelier Meg began with cast drawing and still life painting learning the fundamentals of line, form, and color. Then she graduated to figurative work and portait painting.  To compliment this intensive time in the studio Meg painted en plein air during the summers months with Robert Douglass Hunter on the Wyeth property along the Charles river and John Phillip Osbourne of the Ridgewood Institute on the island of Nantucket. Meg credits her oppurtunities to study with such accomplished masters for the many awards and acknowledgements she has received.

Today, Meg's studio is in the heart of Edgartown Village on the Island of Martha's Vineyard.
