About I Beg to Differ
In 2003, I began a series of public performances titled Breakfast Tacos at Tiffany's and Enchiladas at the Plaza where (dressed as a Mariachi or as an effete New Yorker in Bergdorf-like finery) I sold and distributed hand-painted cardboard signs to passers-by in Manhattan's 5th Avenue shopping district.
With messages such as "Make Tacos Not War," "Looking for Upper East-side Lady with Clean Elegant Apt.-Must Have Cable," and "In the Future Everyone Will Be Famous for $15.00," these signs exemplify my ongoing interests in art as entertainment, social activism, cultural tourism, and free enterprise.
About Alejandro Diaz

He moved to New York City in 1999 where he participated in various group exhibitions including; the Drawing Center's Fall Selections (2004); Open House: Working in Brooklyn, Brooklyn Museum of Art (2004); Works on Paper Biennial, Weatherspoon Art Museum, NC (2006); and Apropiaciones, KBK gallery, Mexico City (2006).
In 2003, Diaz created a major installation for the Havana Biennial which later became the central subject of a group show at the Heine Onstad Kuntsenter in Olso, Norway.
