“Plumbing Problems” by Rob Sigafoos

“Plumbing Problems” by Rob Sigafoos

From February 13th through March 5th Rob’s work including “Plumbing Problems” will be featured at the Chester County Art Association (“CCAA”) in West Chester. A reception will be held on Thursday the 13th of February from 5 to 7 PM and on Thursday, February 20th Rob will give a talk on his work.

About “Plumbing Problems” Rob says this: “The work is 24” x 17” x 15” and consists of forged steel plumbing pipe and salvaged steel plumbing fittings. I was inspired by the amazing, delicate work in marble of Franco Alessandrini’s ‘Monument to the Immigrant’ to do a study in steel of the way living tissue folds and moves.”

West Chester University (WCU) has commissioned a work to grace the new Sciences and Engineering complex located on the site of an obsolete boiler house. The work will be created in part using demolished materials from the boiler plant and will be positioned above a bed of other rubble from the demolition. The work will overall be composed primarily of forged steel and stone, but may also incorporate other materials in its final form.

Above is a partial model of what’s proposed. Note that the images above are from a small scale model and the front legs and one horn are missing but will be included on the final work which will will be over 10 feet tall.
