Joseph Alexiou is the author of Gowanus: Brooklyn's Curious Canal, published October 2015 by NYU Press.
His freelance has been published in the New York Times, Gothamist, Politico, the Brooklyn Eagle, the New York Observer, New York Magazine and Paper Magazine. He was previously an associate features editor at Time Out New York and also Out Magazine, wrote the sixth edition of Paris for Dummies (2011 John Wiley & Sons). He is a licensed New York City tourguide.
He lives in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, but visits Gowanus on a regular basis.
