SLCA is hosting a PechaKucha night—a night of stories by interesting people!

A PechaKucha is a presentation consisting of 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds. The presenter shares their story along with the images.

A PechaKucha can cover any topic. Some examples are travel, animals, hobbies, professions, art, emotions, music, how-to, food, history, the future, your passion, satire, comedy—the list goes on!

Want to participate? Email susanne@slca-ctp.org with your name, phone number and subject of your proposed PechaKucha. We will reply with image submission instructions.

Free admission (donations accepted). Wine provided by Joseph Carr. Snacks also offered.

This courtroom drama takes a peek into the mind of a young mother who is dealing with severe emotional challenges following the death of her children. Slowly, the defendant starts to confuse reality with fantasy as her work slowly morphs into her childhood memory of her favorite book, Charlotte’s Web. And was that really the judge and defense attorney—or was it Charlotte and Wilbur?

Troy Savings Bank Music Hall is hosting a two-act performance by local talents directed by SLCA Executive Director Brian Sheldon!

Act One, “On the Harmful Effects of Tobacco,” is a monologue by Anton Chekhov featuring musical interludes by David Amram and starring David Quinones.

Act Two, “A Water Bird Talk,” is a cleverly comic modern mono-opera composed by Dominick Argento and starring acclaimed baritone Joseph Han.

Featuring a 12-piece orchestra conducted by Micah Gleason.

Also join us for a pre-opera talk with the performers at 6:30 p.m. on show night at the Hart Cluett Museum (57 2nd Street, Troy).

June 15 at 8 p.m. at Troy Savings Bank Music Hall

In just five camp days, campers will learn how to improv their way into building a completely realized character that comes to life during an interactive murder mystery dinner theatre (provided by one of our area restaurants).

This year’s camp will teach the fundamentals of theatre with a slice of the business side as well. It is sure to be extra cheesy and full of crusty jokes!

Middle to high school ages welcome.

Camp: July 8 to 12, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Performance: July 12 at 4 p.m.

In this musical theatre summer camp, attendees will rehearse and perform an original musical in just five days!

You’d think the story of our park bench would be an easy one to tell. But it isn’t! That’s because the townspeople don’t agree on much. The dreamer wants something wild and crazy; the curmudgeon doesn’t want anything at all. The storyteller just wants a story with a happy ending. Good luck with that. The dog walker, picnicker and jogger all try to tell the story from other perspectives, but no one gets it right. Will the townspeople come together with a solution that satisfies everyone in the end? Join us for this year’s musical comedy!

Camp production directed by Val Kavanaugh, Susan Frost and Jim Holmes. Children ages eight to 13 welcome.

Local favorite and friend of SLCA returns for another solo show!

Folk singer, songwriter and artist Kevin McKrell was a founding member of Celtic folk band Donnybrook Fair and the internationally renowned Celtic bluegrass band The McKrells. Kevin and his bands have performed for audiences at the top Celtic, folk and bluegrass festivals as well as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Troy Music Hall and more.
