As we move into our 50th anniversary year, Puppet Showplace is dedicated to expanding the impact of our programs — investing in new works of puppetry that uplift diverse artists and stories, so that every child (and every grownup) can encounter a fictional world that is as rich as the world we live in.

Over 50 puppetry fans joined together virtually and in-person to celebrate and learn about the work created by six spectacular Black puppetry artists of Puppet Showplace’s 2023 Creative Residency for Black Puppeteers.
Boston-based puppetry and music collective The Gottabees brings the world premiere of their new show “Don’t Make Me Get Dressed” to Puppet Showplace Theater in Brookline, MA this November!
On Sunday, long-time members joined brand new members (some who signed up that day!) in making superhero puppets with guidance from Brad Shur of Paper Heart Puppets.
Over 150 attendees gathered at Puppet Showplace on August 10 for a very special presentation by one of the pre-eminent practitioners of tholpavakoothu — a ritual shadow puppetry style from Kerala, India! We were honored to present one of the most noted practitioners of tholpavakoothu in the world, Padmashri Ramachandra Pulavar, as part of his first-ever visit to the United States.

Over the next two months, this group of incredible artists will deepen their puppetry practice while in community with each other.
We believe that it is vital that all children — and grown-ups! — have access to arts, especially art made by artists that look like them. Applications open today for 2023 cohort of our virtual residency program for Black puppeteers.
Our very own Resident Artist Emeritus, Paul Vincent Davis was awarded a special UNIMA Citation for extraordinary contributions to the organization and to puppetry.
2022 finally allowed us to bring families, friends, puppets, and puppeteers back together in one magical space to celebrate—and now here we are, in 2023, ready for a whole new year’s adventures to begin!

We're still buzzing with excitement from the premiere run of Don't Make Me Get Dressed by The Gottabees last month! With over 1,700 attendees, the show was definitely a hit — 9 out of 23 performances were completely sold out.
