Dog People (May 31-June 16, the liebowitz theater)

Two people, two dogs, one day in the park. The dogs are rescues, and their people need some second chances too. Who really rescues who?

It’s a meaningful, revealing and often laugh-out-loud story by respected actor-playwright Leigh Strimbeck, who developed the script as a member of Berkshire Voices, the playwriting cohort affiliated with GB Public. Associate Artistic Director Judy Braha will direct. Dog People plays Thurs-Sat 7:30pm; Sat. & Sun. 3pm, in the Liebowitz black box theater.

Join us for a delightful summer evening to support and celebrate Berkshire Voices, where playwrights come together to create and develop new work in a supportive and constructive community.. There will be delicious summer, small-plate foods, cocktails, wine and soft refreshments in a tent on the lawn outside the Daniel Arts Center, followed by a sneak preview of Night at the Speakeasy, the sensational new cabaret spotlighting Janelle Farias Sando that opens July 26, with champagne and desserts under the stars after the show.

Survival of the UnFit (July 6-July 21, the mcconnell theater)

Survival of the UnFit (July 6-July 21) by Oren Safdie takes audiences to an edgy, mercilessly comic meet-the-parents dinner party where honesty is dished up, along with just desserts.

A recent hit at the Moscow Theater of The Modern Play, the story touches on themes of love, loss, loyalty, the acceptance of others shortcomings, and it redefines what family means.

Matthew Penn directs the ensemble cast featuring Daniel Gerroll; Carolyn Hennesy; Vinny Randazzo and Sarah Keyes. Survival of the Unfit plays Thurs-Sat 7:30pm; Sat. & Sun. 3pm, in the McConnell Theater.

Night at the Speakeasy (July 26-Aug. 11, the mcconnell theater)

Night at the Speakeasy (July 26-Aug. 11) a fun, new cabaret show spotlighting Janelle Farias Sando’s powerhouse voice and stage talent. The audiences is seated onstage, in the ambience of a prohibition club, for a sensational performance of period jazz, traditional Broadway and new Broadway show tunes.

Night at the Speakeasy plays Thurs-Sat 7:30pm; Sat. & Sun. 3pm, in the McConnell Theater.

Flight of the Monarch  (Aug. 3-25, elayne p. bernstein theater, shakespeare & company, lenox)

Flight of the Monarch (Aug. 3-25) written by GB Public Artistic Director Jim Frangione, directed by Associate AD Judy Braha and produced in association with GB Public and Shakespeare & Company, Flight of the Monarch is a dark comedy set on Cape Cod that explores how two siblings’ lifelong connections unravel when one loses her way and makes a bold request.

Featuring Allyn Burrows and Corrina May, it plays Aug. 3-25 in Shakespeare & Company’s Elayne P. Bernstein Theatre. Tickets are available on the Shakespeare & Company site and box office only (413) 637-3353.
