FROZEN FRAMES

Frozen Frames: Preserving Pasadena’s Visual Legacy

ONGOING VIRTUAL EXHIBITION
An exhibit series in four parts, bringing artistically and historically compelling images out of the deep freeze and into public view. The photographs come from among the more than 200,000 at-risk negatives that are now cryogenically preserved as part of the Museum’s Great History Freeze project of 2015.

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! Hollywood Magic in Pasadena
 

The exhibition will highlight Pasadena’s intrinsic role in the multidimensional world of filmmaking. Focusing on the people who helped shape the industry – both on screen and behind the scenes – and locations that provide settings for their artistic pursuits. The galleries will feature a wide range of objects relating to movies, television, music videos, and more, celebrating the creative process from initial concept to finished productions.

The Pasadena Museum of History maintains the area’s largest and most comprehensive collection of documents and artifacts related to the history of Pasadena and the west San Gabriel valley. The ever-expanding collection spans the years 1834 to the present and contains well over 1,000,000 historic photographs, rare books, manuscripts, maps, architectural records, and more.
