The resort and the surrounding grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. Other than the pools, the resort has a golf course, horse back riding and a game area as well as two restaurants and a coffee shop. The staff were all very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. The problems we encountered was that we discovered some sand in our bed on the first night and needed the sheets changed and in the Amaya restaurant when our breakfast was served with the wrong bread on the plates and our server took the plates to the next table and switched it right there with her hands (no gloves).

First time visiting the property for 6 nights Overall experience was lovely with the exception of a few minor issues
Resort was great for family. Rooms were a bit dated but very spacious. Check in experience was not excellent. Arrived one hour earlier than the check in time. Front desk advised to wait until room were ready and will give me a call or text right away. Never received any notifications. Went back 40 min past check in time and room key was at the front desk but no effort of notification to customer was made. Other than that... everything was great.

We went for the night for our anniversary. Around 11:30pm until around 1am the people next to us had a very unhappy baby (crying hysterically). We left our 3 children at home so this was upsetting. I let the hotel know but that did not help. Also, the extra $100 for the outside patio was not worth the money as you were sitting with all the neighboring rooms and the description did not say you would be looking at other guests. I would not pay extra for that next time.
Probably the loveliest hotel I have ever stayed in ( I am elderly and stayed in many). Most attentive staff, lovely room, exquisite gardens. Very relaxed environment. Charming common space. Easy to get to from the airport. I could go on and on.
One night , 2 days . Weather wasn’t great . We expected higher service and accommodations . The outdoor experiences are lacking. The horse stables and trail rides are for petting not riding . The trails are not maintained and admission my staff. The hike is like a walk around the golf course . No kids club. No holiday schedule so Monday not much to do . San Diego is a health and wellness retreat . The level of hike and yoga and trail ride and juices or fresh salads etc is a baseline at any 4-5 star resort . Rancho Valencia but with kids is what we wanted . We got a 3 star and since we pd half on a special it felt like we got half on a special. Wouldnt do it again.
Kept delaying room ready despite calling three days in a row before hand about early arrival. Called for Sunday brunch told it started at 10am. We arrived to be told starts at 11. We ordered food took 50 minutes and was cold. Spoke with manager. Just called to discuss and was switched to wrong person. What the hell happened after we have been there 5 times. Very very disappointed.
