OSTEOPATHY

Osteopathic medicine is a blend of medical science and the innate forces of nature. It began in the late 1800’s when a physician, Andrew Taylor Still, became disgruntled with the medical practices of that time. As a student of nature, he understood that the human body is an extension of nature. The forces inherent in the development of the human being are the same forces inherent in the world around us. By bringing together the idea that structure and function are interrelated, Dr. Still found that adjusting the structure influences function and improves overall health.

Osteopathic physicians are fully trained to practice medicine, and trained to diagnose and treat with their hands. They utilize all that medicine has to offer and the innate forces of nature, which help to facilitate healing and to improve overall function.

"Osteopathy is based on the perfection of Nature’s work. When all parts of the human body are in line we have health. When they are not the effect is disease."  - Andrew Taylor Still

ANTHROPOSOPHICAL MEDICINE

Anthroposophical medicine, like Osteopathic medicine, is a holistic, human-centered approach to medicine. It utilizes all the principles and information of modern medicine, then broadens its concepts with the laws of nature, soul and spirit within the human living organism. This integrated image of the whole human being, in illness and health, forms the basis of all therapeutic efforts, including homeopathic remedies, nutrition and movement.

“A real medicine can only exist when it penetrates into a knowledge which embraces the human being in respect to body, soul and spirit.” - Rudolf Steiner
