We're a wonderful little diner complete with tasty omelettes, warm croissants, fresh salads, soups and sandwiches. Have a seat with our regulars at the counter or on the sunny patio.

The structure of the croissant depends on gluten. The protein that forms when wheat flour is mixed with water is essential for obtaining the right consistency.

Always a pleasure to come here!
Recently four of us had the chance to join here for a leisurely lunch, and as always, had a great meal. The afternoon was perfect, so we sat on the patio.
We were quickly offered a drink order, and by the time the drinks arrived, we still had not decided on the food. Too many good opinions. . .
Finally, after some hemming and hawing, we settled on a Grilled MAC, with a side salad, a Mediterranean salad, a Club sandwich, and a Tune Melt.
The food came quickly, and the amount was generous. The taste was great, with no complaints to be heard.
Luci, our server, was excellent, as always. Great efficiency, friendly, and no empty glasses at this table!
Looking forward to our next outing here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Mar 7, 2022Previous reviewCame here for lunch and was glad I - okay, WE - did!
The outdoor patio was a nice option, a bit breezy (okay for me though!) and the many umbrellas don't make sunburn a worry.
The service, as always, was quick, efficient and friendly. We were welcomed, after we seated ourselves, and placed beverage orders. We ordered food when the drinks arrived, mainly because we know the menu here! There is a board with "daily specials" so be sure to check that out as well - you never know!
We ordered a grilled ham and cheese, with cheddar on sourdough and fries on the side. Also, a Grilled MAC - mushroom, avocado and cheese. I ordered this with Swiss on rye, with a large side salad and lots of ranch. The salad was large with lots of fresh (blanched) tender veggies. Yummy!
The food came quickly, was very hot and the salad and fries were fresh!
Everything was great, and to finish it we tried the strawberry-rhubarb pie. Oh. My. Gaaawwwd! What a treat. Even if you don't "like " rhubarb, give it a try. It will change your mind!
Can't wait for the next excuse to come here . . .Nov 18, 2021Previous reviewCame here with a few friends for a birthday dinner, and what a treat it was!
We love this place, and quickly settled in for a great meal. We ordered a couple of burgers with side salads, a Cobb salad, a Grilled MAC (mushroom, avocado, cheese) with Swiss on Rye and a side salad, and a TLT - turkey, lettuce, tomato on croissant.
The service was great, and the food tasty as always. Nothing was left, as the proverbial 2-legged locusts enjoyed our birthday feast.
Can't wait until the next excuse for a great lunch here.May 13, 2021Previous reviewI have missed so many breakfasts, brunches and lunches these past 14 months that I have no idea how long it will take me to reacquaint myself with many of my favorite go-to locations. Thankfully, I can say that Le Croissant is still the great place I remember, and boy did I miss it!
We got here about 1:30pm, and since they are currently open until 2:30pm we had plenty of time to relax and enjoy a nice lunch. There was no crowd, and the outdoor patio was available and welcoming. They have added an overhang with translucent panels to protect from sprinkles (and quite likely rain, it looks that sturdy). COVID wise that are following all latest (and changing!) guidelines, with masks and gloves for staff and cleaning between guests.
We were quickly greeted, and offered menus and had our drink order taken. Ordering was easy for me, as I went for my fave dish - the Grilled MAC (mushroom, avocado and cheese) on rye. With Swiss cheese. My partner in dining crime ordered the Club sandwich (bacon, turkey, tomato, lettuce). We both ordered side green salads.
The food came quickly and was plentiful! The sandwiches are filled with layers of deliciousness, and the side salads here are almost worth the trip by themselves. LOTS of veggies, like big slices of tomato, bell pepper, cauliflower, red onion, kidney beans and broccoli. And lots of dressing (just ask for extra, you'll need it!).
The service was exemplary as well, with familiar faces checking in on us and refilling beverages as needed. Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Glad to have been able to visit - looking forward to my next visit already.Mar 5, 2020Previous reviewAnother great lunch with friends! Oh yeah - and with great service, food and DESSERTS! Ate inside because of the weather, but were able to grab a table for four at lunch - good sign already!
Drink orders were quickly taken and we ordered some favorites: Cheese omelette (with hash browns and wheat toast), Joe's special (with white toast), Denver omelette (hash browns and white toast) and a "Grilled MAC" - MY favorite! - a grilled mushroom, avocado and cheese (on rye) with a side salad.
The food came quickly and was delicious! The Grilled MAC is always a treat, and not an option I find elsewhere, and the salad was delicious as always with soft blanched vegetables and crisp fresh lettuce. The Denver omelette was filled with chopped veggies and tasty as well. The cheese omelette was cheesy (surprise!) and the Joe's scramble was a messy mélange of taste and texture. All were wonderful. The hash browns were good as well, but I would've ordered the home potatoes - I just like chunky potatoes over shredded, but that's my 2 cents!
The meal was great - so we closed out our tab, and started talking about dessert of course - always dangerous! Dessert here means PIE, and we asked about the options - apple and mixed berry (with a bit of rhubarb we felt), and couldn't help but try one slice of each. Perhaps one slice would have been enough, but our eyes were bigger than our already full tummies! The pie slices came heated (on request) and with a garnish of whipped cream and plump blackberries. Soooo good.
After some more time spent in small talk we finally waddled out, happy and filled with a good meal, and spoiled with great service! Can't wait for the next lunch date.Oct 4, 2019Previous reviewBeen a while so this was the obvious choice for a nice lunch - and with the great beginning of Fall weather ( not too hot, not too cold!) it was a great chance for perhaps a last chance of outdoor patio seating for a while! I was going to get my go-to (the Grilled MAC) but switched up at last minute for a Santa Fe 3-egg omelette (with pepper jack cheese, ortega chiles, avocado and topped with sour cream and salsa) with side of hash browns and English muffin, and my dining in crime partner had the California omelette (spinach, mushrooms, tomato, avocado, onion and cheddar cheese), with a side of home potatoes and toast. The food, as always, was fresh and hot - and although not a spectacular plating, it was delicious and filling. The omelettes are more of a chopped scramble than the folded type you may expect and a change that I can appreciate (I would always chop up my omelette anyway to mix the fillings!). The home fries still could use a little seasoning or add - maybe bell peppers or onions, just for flavor and "color". The service was spot on, with plentiful refills of iced teas and friendly banter throughout the meal (thanks Rolando!). A great ambience overall, and with good "home-style" food! We decided, at the "last minute," to try a Belgian waffle with sliced strawberries, pecans and whipped cream, and HOT syrup (Oyyyy!) and lightly dusted with powdered sugar. The waffle was light and airy yet crunchy, and the toppings were just enough in amounts to balance each other with each bite. Talk about a dessert to die for . . . and we had hot chocolates after THAT! Too much goodness for one visit - I waddled away, only to look forward to my next visit!
Jul 23, 2019Previous reviewCame here for breakfast with some friends. Usually we're here for lunch (or brunchish!) but earlier today, so I was glad to try something different from my Grilled MAC, which I love! We took a patio table, as the weather was great, and quickly placed drink orders while waiting for the entire cadre to assemble. The breakfast menu has many good items, and I changed my mind several times while waiting, as I think did some of the others. Finally we were ready for orders, and three of us tried a newer menu item, the California (3 egg) omelette. This has spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, avocado, onion and cheese. The other breakfast was the Western (3 egg) omelette, with ham, onion, bell pepper, mushroom and tomato. Three of us had the house potatoes, another had the hash browns, and we varied the sides of toast as well with English muffins and white toast. The omelettes arrived quickly, and I must admit that being my first omelette here I was surprised and impressed. The omelettes arrived more like a scramble, with all the ingredients mixed up with the eggs, rather than being folded into the eggs like a blanket. They were then shaped into an omelette shape! Quite a surprise, and I have never seen this before - but, it was delicious! The drawback with traditional omelettes, like burritos in a sense, is that the ingredients can clump inside in odd groupings, so each bite emphasizes one or two ingredients - sour cream and tomato in one bite, the cheese and spinach in another bite. In this creation, however, each bite had a little bit of everything! It was great. I'm a fan of this new styled omelette! Everything else was good, although the house potatoes could have used a little bit of seasoning - or more, if they did have any. I would also add some diced onions and bell peppers for color and sweetness, but that's my preference. These were okay, but basically just chunks of potatoes that needed ketchup. The toast was good, and with the addition of liberal amounts of house-made strawberry and blackberry jams, they were sweetness alive. As usual, the service was attentive, efficient and friendly - always a pleasure. The morning was enjoyable, with a nice setting, good food (great omelettes) and on target service. Looking forward to trying another breakfast item next time - could it get any better?
Feb 1, 2019Previous reviewAnother review long overdue! Our latest visit is indicative of many previous visits, so many observations over time generalized in this review. First -the food is always great! Fresh, plenty of it and no problems with individual preferences. The menu offers breakfast and lunch items - traditional items like omelettes, pancakes, and breakfast sandwiches to burgers and lunch sandwiches, all with plenty of varieties and options. Add to that a daily menu and you have no excuse to get bored here! The salads are particularly good, as well - no handful of dry lettuce here! And before I forget, pay special attention to the daily selection of pastries (especially the almond croissant - often sells out early). Today I had the Grilled MAC (mushroom, cheese and avocado) on rye, with a side salad and lots of ranch dressing. A stable of mine, and so good. The sandwich arrived hot, and the salad was voluminous as always. The sandwich has just the right balance of ingredients, something I would love to replicate at home, but I come nowhere close. So, I will continue to enjoy it here. The salad showcases not so much the lettuce, but a veritable cast of vegetables, some gently blanched when required (i.e., cauliflower), the others crisp and fresh (bell peppers and onions, e.g.). So good. Their fruit bowls are amazing as well, featuring a variety of seasonal fresh fruits, nicely prepared. But I digress. Service here is always good, and attentive even though it can get really busy at main meal times. A nice outdoor patio is appreciated in warmer weather, as well - the inside can get that noisy, stuffed feeling at high occupancy times. All the wait staff is to be appreciated, haven't had a problem among them yet. Our latest visit was no different, good service the whole meal (even though we were the only table on the patio - too cool for others to join us!). Rolando is a particular surprise . . . that's all I'll say for now! For dessert, if you have room to dare, try a slice of house-made pie, with or without whipping cream. Soft where it should be, flaky on the borders, and the filling is sweet naturally and filled with fresh fruits (mixed berries, this time). A wonderful end to a great meal. Just be aware that they only accept cash or debit cards, but do have an ATM in house if needed. Otherwise, arrive with no concerns and leave satiated.

I was in the neighborhood and decided to stop here for breakfast. They had a nice patio area to sit in, that was covered and cool.
I had the egg white scramble with chicken breast, spinach and tomatoes, black beans and tortillas.
The eggs were served quickly and it was a healthy and tasty meal, which is what I was looking for. The beans were great, and the tortillas fresh. The scramble had fresh tomatoes chopped on top of a good sized scramble with chicken breast and spinach. Delicious!
I liked how friendly the wait staff was. They checked on me several times and kept my tea water hot.
This is a good option for breakfast and lunch.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - May 19, 2023
My family and I stopped in here for a late breakfast/early lunch before heading to the Muir Woods. It was a fairly close to out Airbnb and easy to find. We found a parking spot right outside on the street but there is a small lot as well. This place isn't that big, so my large party decided to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful Nor Cal weather. Customer service was super friendly and accommodating to some of our pickier eaters.
I was expecting more classic breakfast and pastries items, but they also had some Creole and Mexican dishes as well. As good as the breakfast items looked, the waitress said one of her favorites was the crispy chicken sandwich. I don't know if I was hungry or what, but that sandwich was outstanding. It was seasoned perfectly, crispy as advertised and delicious. The pepper jack cheese gave it a nice little kick and the fresh veggies balanced everything out. I tried little bites of everyone's food and we all agreed this was a great breakfast all around.
I will definitely come back if in the area!Helpful 25Thanks 2Love this 17Oh no 0 - Sep 26, 2023
This breakfast/lunch place that takes cash only is an iconic San Rafael restaurant. It's been in San Rafael longer than I have, which is to say, more than 35 years.
You won't get a bad meal here, whether it's for breakfast or lunch. Plus, during COVID, the owners added nice outdoor seating while preserving parking in the back.
You can get eggs prepared lots of different ways with lots of different sides, including bacon, corned beef and some of the the largest pastries I've ever seen. Pancakes and waffles with real maple syrup are also on the menu along with breakfast burritos and huevos rancheros.
The lunch hamburgers are hefty with excellent onion rings, and/or french fries. Other sides include salad and coleslaw. I think Le Croissant's coleslaw is the best coleslaw I've ever eaten. I even get it to go sometimes.
If you're looking for a more substantial lunch, those are offered too. If you're from the New York area, this is the closest to a diner you'll get out here.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 19, 2024
Large portions and pleasant staff, with an all American small-town diner nostalgic feel. I wanted to love this local favorite but the food came out wrong the first time, and once it was corrected, what I had was bland and lacking flavor; I had to add extra seasoning and condiments. The chai latte was okay, and the desserts looked good though.

Hands down the best restaurant of its type in San Rafael; solid meals at reasonable prices from this long time family restaurant with a long time staff, long time regular customers and the simple setting that makes it all work.
In 5+ years (I'm a newbie) I've never had a bad meal or a sad wait person.
Go, enjoy! :)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 2579290Nov 12, 2022
The creole was flavorful, rich in sausage and nicely baked potatoes. The toasts on creole had a lot of butter, I think was just too much.
The croissant on the sandwich was delicious. The eggs and bacon in the sandwich was a bit blunt though. Needed a little bit more flavor.
The service here is amazing. The food comes fast and they fill the coffee cup every half a minute. The staff are nice.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Aug 29, 2022
It's in an industrial area with lots of takeout business and outdoor seating. This review is looking at the place for what it is. It's hardy large portions at a fair price and middle of the road quality.
Overall a good experience. Nothing special, but not bad either.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - C K.San Rafael, CA3617134Jun 9, 2023
