The sales people here are beyond obnoxious. I have honestly seen things there I would have bought otherwise, but being a sales person myself, I refuse to buy anything from someone that makes my skin crawl.
I used to live really close to the store, so I would often wander in on a Saturday. I swear one time I was getting coffee around the corner and one of the most painful offender was there (I think she's at a store in the Marina now) -she waited for my coffee to come up so she could hear them say my name. Then when I walked in the store later, she said "Hi Amy! What's up?" Who are you, weirdo?
And speaking of weird, a lot of their clothes are just weird and expensive for the sake of being weird and expensive. They have some good basics-- tees, jeans, shoes, but a lot of euro trash too.

I love the selection The Grocery Strore has of James Perse shirts. That's all..

What irks me is the staff. They are aggressive, obnoxious and rude. Too bothersome..

Stepped into the store and thought some of the items look pretty decent. But I did not find anything that really wow me. The price of the items are really expensive and look too funky. Personally don't think they aiming at the right neighborhood or market. Come on it is SF, where ppl are usually pretty laid back and don't wear funky super high fashion clothing!

Then here come one of a sale lady introducing items in the store. Telling me that all the items are not from weird places like china! Like seriously this is racist!

Enough of the drama so I sit on the chair for a little bit to talk to my friend on the phone. Chatted for a minute and then another sale lady walked in front of me and told me that this store doesn't allowed anyone to talk on phone in the store. What kind of nonsense is this? It is just a clothing store! I swear I will never ever step into this store ever again! Ridiculous!

Where else do you walk away with red patent Hogan flats, Rogan shorts anyone would kill for and the biggest smile on your face EVER.. The Grocery Store, that's where.

Their selection of truly cool, unique and out of this world merchandise never ceases to amaze me. Tara and the girls there have a special place in my heart...it's true.

Susan (the owner and buyer) has the best fashion eye in this city. Check out her other store on Sacramento entitled what else but SUSAN (another also in Burlingame)where you will find all things McQueen, Balenciaga, Prada plus other fashion greats..all at their best!

Uh oh... I am going against the trend here:

The staff I have experienced at the Grocery Store are very professional and nice without being obnoxiously in your face . They organize clothes in order of how you'll try them on (ie pants together, etc.) and will find items similar to those you are trying on if it's not working out. Add in their sales are killer (a pair of pants I coveted were on sale for $100 less then the cheapest I could find online) I do adore this spot.

The only neg? Won't hold sale merch (insert sigh).

This store is dangerous for anyone who likes to shop.
The staff (for the most part) is wonderful and work hard to find you what you are looking for. If you like boots check out their selection of Frye boots (to dies for!) I constantly get compliments on my yellow Frye construction boots from here. Twice a year they have good sales where you can find discounted shoes, bags and basic t-shirts. Ask for Tara she rocks!

Beautifully unique clothes. It's expensive, but worth the price. Sales peeps are truly helpful.

Fantastic array of scarves. The Burlingame location is pretty swell too!

My friend has been telling me well... maybe for like a year, to check this store out. I am glad that I finally made it. I enjoyed the simplicity of the colors in the store, very neutral and classic. I was pleased to see they carried Clu, which is like the most comfy cotton pieces ever! The shoe selection was to die for and they even had a generous selection of sale items. The staff was totally dressed in savvy style and they were friendly without being pushy. I think that my mom and I are going back for a second time later this week cause we got shoes on the brain!

Great store. Nice collection of casual super-soft shirts (I think they have the largest collection of James Perse outside L.A.) and some funky stuff from Japan that's hard to wear outside Tokyo (I think I saw some shirts with three sleeves last time I was there). Oh, and I love that they carry Miu Miu! Definitely a lot of stuff you don't see at your typical SF boutique. Return policy is strict though- I think it's 15 days (and I think they only allow exchanges). I agree with the other reviewers- LOTS of sales pressure so be prepared (gosh, I gave them my number one time and now someone calls me EVERYTIME they get in new stuff). They'll even stand outside your dressing room and keep bringing you stuff they think you'll like (like a $300 t-shirt when you're trying on a 70$ shirt!). Other than that, definitely worth checking out.

Until there's a Miu Miu shop in SF, this is my go-to place--tons of shoes, purses, and clothes by Miu Miu and other designers. Mostly fun, glam style with some super-designed impractical pieces here and there. The best time to go is between seasons when they will have oodles of clothes, shoes, and handbags with good discounts, up to 50% off.
