TL;DR
Emily ran past a charming little yellow house for over a year. After an “unfortunate” event, she hunted for a new apartment, which brought her to the yellow house's front door. There blossomed a friendship and mentorship, with the enchanted owner, Marge, which has spanned 27 years.
THE LITTLE YELLOW HOUSE
In 1997 I moved to Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. I was a runner and would circle the neighborhood of Clinton Hill. This took me past an incredibly charming little yellow house.
After an “unfortunate” event I looked for a new apartment. In the late 90s, before Craigslist, most opportunities were still found in the Village Voice, NYC’s free weekly paper. I dutifully headed to Cooper Square and waited for the newspaper trucks to arrive. I searched the warm newspaper looking for my next space. When I found the perfect listing, I raced to a pay phone and made an appointment to see it. On arrival, I was stunned – it was the little yellow house. Its owner, Margaret Othrow, became my landlord, psychic mentor, and Fairy Godmother to my family, as we affectionately call her.

In 2013, I continued my journey inward, focusing on developing my psychic medium abilities. Upon telling Marge she gave me a pleasant shock. In the 1980’s she befriended Walter Steinhilber, a Pratt painting professor. He had grown up in Brooklyn in the early 20th century and had passed the yellow house often. He described a placard on the house advertising seances and psychic readings. His memory of this was so potent that he memorialized it in a painting which he gifted Marge, and in turn, she gifted me. Before Marge owned the house, the previous owner was a fortune teller. She told a neighbor that God had told her to “Move to California!”. So she put the house on the market and that’s how Marge came into ownership in the 60s. Much later, Marge decided to leave her home to me after her departure. This turn will make me the 4th generation of psychic mediums to own the bewitching little yellow house.
NITTY GRITTY
I grew up in New Jersey and have been playing with nature spirits for as long as I can remember. Now NYC is my home where I’m a single mom to three amazing kids. I commune with my garden, the birds & bees, and rescue a cat or two (or ten). I'm also an illustrator and created, Rainbobo, talismans designed to supercharge your path and encourage your dreams and aspirations.
