Tee Times Stay & Play

Welcome to Forest Dunes

Escape to the seclusion of the Huron National Forest in northern Michigan where a golf experience like no other on earth awaits. We invite you to stay and play at a resort where golf is our only focus. Your accommodations are mere yards from the first tee of both Forest Dunes, Tom Weiskopf’s Top 50 rated course, and The Loop, Tom Doak’s uniquely designed reversible masterpiece. The golfing fun doesn’t end at the 18th hole of these championship tracks. Head over to Bootlegger, our 10-hole short course where you can grab a cold beverage, kick off your shoes, and settle some scores adding more memories as the sun sets over the surrounding forest.

Forest Dunes

British Open champion Tom Weiskopf has designed a wonderful parkland golf course with two unique personalities. The front nine cuts through the heavily wooded Huron National Forest while the back nine takes advantage of the sand dunes deposited by ancient glaciers. If your match is all-square after 18, head over to the short 19th hole to determine a winner.

The Loop

When world-renowned golf architect Tom Doak was tasked with designing a golf course that wowed the property owners, he took inspiration from some of Scotland’s earliest links and created The Loop, North America’s only truly reversible golf course utilizing the same 18 greens and fairways.. Golfers play the Black and Red routings on alternate days and on the last of those months that have 31 days, the resort mounts “The Dual,” a 36-hole tournament event in which teams of golfers play in one direction in the morning and the opposite direction in the afternoon.

The Bootlegger

Golf is supposed to be fun. And what could be more fun than grabbing two or three clubs, a couple of cold drinks, kicking off your shoes and playing a little pitch and putt with music all around you? Welcome to Bootlegger, a 10-hole 1,100 yard par-3 course designed by Keith Rhebb and Riley Johns. Adding to the fun is the name which is inspired by the Purple Gang, a Detroit-area mafia family that ran the South Branch Ranch on the property in the 1920’s and 30’s.

“Every good golf trip has variety, which is where Forest Dunes — 90 minutes south of Mackinac — shines. It has … everything.”
