REVERBERATIONS 2024

Beginning in the artist’s impulse, a work of art generates energy and movement that reverberates and transforms with every encounter. Reverberations 2024 invites you into a rare experience of this resonance.

The exhibition brings together 56 rarely seen works of art from the homes of private collectors and Bay Area institutions, curated as a wide-ranging visual conversation among artists from the 20th century—Edward Hopper, Richard Diebenkorn, Willem de Kooning, Lucian Freud, Fernand Léger, Ruth Bernhard, Wayne Thiebaud, Ed Ruscha, Sonia Delaunay, and Hung Liu—to contemporary working artists including Saif Azzuz, Maria de los Angeles, Enrique Chagoya, Elizabeth Peyton, Ramekon O’ Arwisters, Alicia McCarthy, and Emilio Villalba.

The radical vision of SebArts is to open that conversation into language, inviting 56 poets to respond to their work with a poem.  Ekphrasis—written or verbal response to a work of art—can awaken a poet’s own experience and perception into language transcending description.

Exhibited side by side in our gallery, they offer an intimate adventure into realms of visual art and poetry.

TICKETS are available now to visit the exhibit from June 21-August 10.
