Hats that Heal was inspired by my love of fly fishing, desire to involve myself in a non-profit and my knitting passion.

Since 2018, I have supported Casting for Recovery, who  sponsors fly fishing retreats for women battling breast cancer.  Hats That Heal has committed to provide the Colorado Casting For Recovery retreat participants with a unique fleece lined, hand made hat.   Hundreds of hats have been tireless knitted and donated.    The mission of

Casting for Recovery® is to enhance the quality of life of women with breast cancer through a unique retreat program that combines breast cancer education and peer support with the therapeutic sport of fly fishing.

Mission Statement

 

The mission of Hats That Heal is to provide, at no cost, hand-made knitted hats to charitable organizations whose purpose is to assist adults & families in need of support due to medical or financial misfortune.

Our knitted hats will be provided to those struggling with treatment induced hair loss from chemotherapy or other medical treatment.  In addition, families experiencing financial difficulty and unable to afford adequate winter clothing, will benefit from our knitted hats.

 

Vision

 

• Our colorful and unique hats provide warmth, comfort and dignity to those who have lost their hair due to a medical treatment or condition.

• Low income families may not have the means to afford adequate winter clothing and will welcome the warmth of a fleece lined hat. 

Each hat comes with a note of hope for healing, signed by the fabricator, to let the recipient know that their hat was personally made and a hope to overcome their challenging situation.
