  • SD Starting Pitcher #44
Musgrove cobbled together one of his strongest performances of the season to date, It was a much-needed bounce-back effort after being shelled for seven runs on eight hits, including four homers, over 3 2/3 innings his last time out against the Phillies. His average fastball velocity was back above 93 mph in this one as he induced 14 swinging strikes and finished with a solid 32 percent CSW. He’ll bring an inflated 6.37 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 36/13 K/BB ratio across 41 innings (eight starts) into a road tilt on Tuesday against the Cubs at historic Wrigley Field. It’s going to take a while for his surface stats to improve after some ugly early-season disasters, but this outing was an encouraging step in the right direction.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #51
Sale authored arguably his strongest performance of his Braves debut so far, generating an eye-popping 21 swinging strikes, and finishing with an elite 39 percent CSW. A run-scoring single from Jorge Polanco with two outs in the fifth inning represented the lone tally against him in this one. The oft-injured 35-year-old veteran southpaw has looked rejuvenated since arriving in Atlanta, allowing three earned runs or fewer in five of six starts to open the year. He’ll carry a strong 3.44 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 42/7 K/BB ratio across 36 2/3 innings (six starts) into a home outing next Wednesday against his former team, the suddenly resurgent Red Sox.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #51
Peralta was having another stellar outing for the Brewers on Tuesday and the only run he allowed was a home run from Jose Siri. Later in the game, Peralta hit Siri in the sixth inning which was deemed an intentional act by the home plate umpire and led to his ejection, as well as Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy. Peralta will appeal the five-game suspension handed to him by Major League Baseball, while Murphy was given a two-game suspension which he is serving starting on Wednesday.
  • MIL Relief Pitcher #45
Uribe will reportedly appeal the six-game suspension. The 23-year-old swung at Jose Siri near first base in the eighth inning after the two players exchanged words. Uribe had to be held back by his own teammates and he was ultimately brought down to the dugout and ejected from the game. “There were some words shared that didn’t have much to do with the game that probably shouldn’t have been shared there in that exchange,” Uribe said.
  • ARI First Baseman #53
In a game that was delayed due to a swarm of bees, Walker ended up creating the buzz. Sorry. The first baseman homered in the fourth inning off Landon Knack, but the big blow was a two-run shot in the bottom of the 10th off Nabil Crismatt to give Arizona the victory. Walker has homered in two of his last three games, and he’s up to 7 on the season with an .890 OPS and 22 RBI.
  • SEA Starting Pitcher #58
The Seattle pitching staff has been dominant over the past two weeks, and Castillo kept the run going. The 31-year-old ace allowed just three hits with one walk, and he struck out seven in a game where he wasn’t really challenged. Castillo was disappointing in his first three starts, but he’s been anything but over the last three weeks. He’ll face the Twins in Minnesota next week.
  • LAA Center Fielder #27
Trout is slated to undergo surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. There isn’t a definitive timetable for his return yet, but the expectation is that he’ll return at some point later this season. It’s obviously a colossal loss for the Angels, and fantasy managers. The 32-year-old generational superstar was in the midst of an impressive renaissance campaign, posting a strong .867 OPS with a major league-leading 10 homers and six steals through 29 games. There should be some clarity on his potential return timeline at some point following the knee procedure.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #6
With a spot in Toronto’s starting rotation seemingly up for grabs with Yariel Rodríguez (back) landing on the injured list on Tuesday evening, Manoah turned in his best outing in recent memory, allowing just four baserunners over six impressive frames. His fastball velocity was back up into the mid-90’s and he generated 19 swinging strikes, including 13 on his slider alone, finishing with an elite 45 percent CSW. He figures to take the ball on Sunday against the Nationals, barring something unexpected.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #30
Skenes touched triple digits 13 times, averaging 99.8 mph on his four-seam fastball, and needed just 75 pitches (53 strikes) to complete six frames for the first time in his professional career. He generated 11 swinging strikes and finished with a 31 percent CSW, allowing only five baserunners over six dominant innings. We’re not sure what else Pittsburgh’s front office needs to see at this juncture. The 21-year-old top pitching prospect boasts a microscopic 0.39 ERA and 41/6 K/BB ratio across 23 innings (six starts). It’s time.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #9
Flaherty authored a brilliant performance against his former club in the opening contest of Tuesday’s doubleheader, striking out seven straight batters to open the contest, falling two shy of Pablo López’s league record of nine consecutive punch outs, en route to his 12th career double-digit strikeout effort. He generated an astronomical 24 swinging strikes and finished with a sublime 46 percent CSW. He was saddled with a tough no-decision after Detroit’s bullpen coughed up the lead in the ninth inning to keep him winless on the. year. The 28-year-old righty will carry an outstanding 4.00 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 50/5 K/BB ratio across 36 innings (six starts) into a road matchup on Monday against the Guardians.
