Celebrating Women in Jazz and Women in General at The Eubie Blake Center on Mother's Day!
Men, women and children…you’re all invited!
Our celebration begins as Camay Calloway Murphy signs the newly-released biography of her late father: Hi-de-ho: The Life of Cab Calloway, written by noted British author Alyn Shipton. Enjoy a gallery tour, with paintings and drawings by local artist Anthony McKessic. Complimentary wine.
"A Conversation with Jazz Women" will be moderated by Mrs. Murphy. The panel includes jazz presenter Cyd Wolf of Germano's Trattoria, jazz presenter/esteemed vocalist Marianne Matheny-Katz of Jazzway 6004 and renowned jazz vocalist/educator Stephanie Nakasian.
We’ll ride the elevator (or take the stairs if you’re so inclined) to the fourth floor arriving at our premier performance venue Eubie Live! where we’ll enjoy a live, high-octane concert featuring an outstanding all-star female jazz ensemble that includes Heidi Martin (vocals), Janelle Gill (piano), Amy Shook (bass), Lydia Lewis (drums), Gabrielle Murphy (sax) and Delandria Mills (flute).
Actress/dancer/writer Tracie Jiggetts will deliver her moving tribute to Ruby Glover, “The Day Jazz Got the Blues.” The winners of our wonderful raffle/silent auction items will be announced.
Tickets: $25 each Tickets may be purchased at: www.eubieblake.org
