Since 1996, Food on Foot is a non-profit dedicated to providing the homeless of Los Angeles with nutritious meals, clothing, job opportunities, and assistance in the transition to employment and life off the streets.
Food on Foot is unique among workforce development programs. The organization receives no government funding and, therefore, is not restricted in its program model or the services it can provide to clients. The Sunday meal program serves as a gateway to our community clean-up program called Work for Food. This program emphasizes individual responsibility, punctuality, self-respect and rewarding a job well done. In the Work for Food platform, the homeless are introduced to a workforce development program that will help build their self-confidence, obtain job opportunities, and assist them in becoming tax payers instead of tax burdens!
