FoBH Online Auction Open! Let the Bidding Begin!

The Summer FUNdraiser 2014 is now open. The auction will run until July 7, 2014, with proceeds going to Friends of Boston's Homeless.

With your support, Friends of Boston’s Homeless, in partnership with Boston’s Housing First initiative, is ending the tragedy of homelessness by helping our community’s most long-term homeless move from the streets and shelters into homes of their own. 

Housing First places individuals in housing first – immediately removing the chaos of living on the streets. Once housed, people are connected with health care providers and case managers to get the support they need to rebuild their lives.

People like Charity, who by 30 had spent five years living on the streets. Suffering from a paranoid disorder she often used drugs to quiet the chaos in her mind. Afraid to come in to shelters, she primarily used the emergency room for respite when the weather got too cold. Through Housing First, she got a home and finally found the serenity and stability she needed to rebuild her life. Three years later, Charity not only takes care of herself, but also helps others by leading support groups in the community. She’s also starting a job, and just as she dreamed, loves to decorate her new home.

Housing First has been tremendously successful at ending long-term homelessness and years of struggle for many of our community's most vulnerable. In four years, more than 400 people have been placed in permanent housing. Today over 90% continue to maintain their housing and have not returned to living on the streets or in shelters. They couldn’t achieve this without your support.
