Proceeds from this auction will support Broadbent Wildlife Sanctuary in Kentucky, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to rescue sick, injured and orphaned wildlife throughout the state.  Our goal is to rehabilitate and release wildlife back into their native environment.  Our full time staff, including a veterinarian and licensed wildlife rehabilitators, provide loving care for wildlife.  We are available 24/7 to rescue wildlife in need across the state of Kentucky.  We also care for abandoned or abused exotic birds and other exotic animals that were once pets.  Many of our rescued exotics have come to us from other states as well.  We are also dedicated to educating children and adults to co-exist with wildlife and to respect all animals.

A portion of the proceeds will also help End Animal Suffering, Inc., a Florida nonprofit, to neuter/spay and care for homeless pets and abused or abandoned companion animals.

Auction items range from one-of-a-kind vacation getaways, to artwork, tickets to sports events, a breathtaking selection of jewelry, and even a rare opportunity to experience the release of a bird of prey with a champagne toast at Broadbent Wildlife Sanctuary!

Here are just a few of the success stories from Broadbent in 2007...  Hundreds of wildlife babies were raised in our nursery and released back into the wild last summer.  Dozens of raptors, including owls, hawks, and kestrels received lifesaving surgeries by our staff veterinarian, and supportive care from our licensed rehabilitators and dedicated staff, and are now flying through the sky again.  Everyone here at Broadbent has taken his or her turn at driving clear across the state, sometimes in the middle of the night, to rescue and transport animals in need.  A great-horned owl, named Autumn in honor of the little girl who found her on the ground, emaciated and on the verge of death, was brought back to health and released in the spring.  Her story and photo can be seen on our web site.  A fawn who was caught in a hay baler and brought to Broadbent by a Good Samaritan, survived, but had to have her leg amputated.  She has adapted extremely well and is now running with the rest of the herd.  An injured mother opossum who crawled onto someone’s porch and passed away while her babies were still in her pouch was rescued by our staff in time to save the tiny babies.  Seven babies received constant care until they were old enough to live on their own, and were released.  A short-eared owl was recently found at a horse farm with a broken wing.  His wing was pinned by our veterinarian, and we’re anxiously waiting to see if he will be able to be released, or will remain at the sanctuary to help us in our Education Program.  These are just a few of the hundreds of stories we have to tell.

We’re working as hard as we can, but we need YOUR help to continue our life-saving work.  Please take a few moments to review the items in our auction and if you see something you like, BID!   Please help us save precious wildlife and habitat which is vital for their survival.  Help us build this legacy for your children and your children’s children by participating in the Broadbent Wildlife Sanctuary Online Auction.
