Former US Ambassador, Peter B. Teeley, and a group of Washington-area business and professional leaders founded the Children’s Charities Foundation in 1994. They realize there is an acute need to raise money for disadvantaged and at-risk children and youth of the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The Children’s Charities Foundation has distributed nearly $10.2 million to charities in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. In the past six years we have distributed 14,000 brand new winter coats to children and have sent more than 100 kids to summer camp each year since 2013. Last year we provided coats to the 2,000 reported homeless children in D.C. along with thousands more in Northern Virginia and neighboring Maryland counties. The Children’s Charities Foundation funds nonprofit organizations that support these disadvantaged and at-risk children by strengthening their health and welfare, supporting strong and cohesive families, and assisting educational and recreational programs.
