The Jim Elder Good Sport Fund awards college scholarships to upperclassmen in Arkansas schools majoring in journalism or broadcasting and helps to financially support local organizations doing good work with kids-- our Home Plate Heroes. Jim Elder was a longtime sportcaster in Little Rock who was known for his ability to turn sports news into stories his listeners cared about. He was the play-by-play man for the Arkansas Travelers for over 30 years, and was one of the last announcers to do "re-creations" of road games using sound effects. Jim was beloved for his generous nature and kind heart. He took great pleasure in helping others and great pride in their accomplishments. The Jim Elder Good Sport Fund was created to carry on his legacy.
