Item Description

Experience the joy of train travel with 2 regular train tickets on the Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad.

In 1980 the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Railroad shut down their lines in Washington, including their 66-mile branch from Tacoma to Morton. This rail line was acquired by Weyerhaeuser, which struck a deal to give the newly formed Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad access to a portion of the line for tourist train service. Steam trains started hauling passengers the following year.

Thirty plus years later, the steam trains continue to run through the foothills of Mt. Rainier to the benefit and enjoyment of kids young and old alike.

Weekly excursion and tour trains depart beneath Mount Rainier from the Depot in Elbe, WA. Pulled by vintage locomotives, passengers on the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad are charmed as they pass through forest and meadows, next to clear mountain streams and over tall wooden trestles.
