Item Description
Creation is Alive in Every New Day
Some of the symbolism of the crow is the color black that gives way to birth of a new day. The crow is adaptable much like the coyote, and they are present on every continent. They are also connected to voice…the crow is considered a songbird, but not like the birds we hear normally--their vocabulary is vast.
The magic and mystery they bring to us is alive in each new day. The ability to restore balance in our lives is shared teachings they pass on to us--and the color orange is present here to represent it.
Materials used: Collage papers, stained tissue papers, book pages, wax pastels, images printed on artist tissue papers, acrylics and glazing with a couple of layers of polymer medium and a satin varnish.
Laura Lein-Svencner was raised in Downers Grove, Illinois not far from her grandfather’s farm and resides now Darien Illinois for the past 26 years. She’s continued with her personal studies in drawing, printmaking, sculpture, papermaking and collage. Seeking inspiration from one artist to another, Laura has pursued her love of paper; this steady pace of exploration has lead her to become a member of many local and international collage groups. She also co-founded the Midwest Collage Society which exhibits throughout the Midwest region.
