Item Description
Lane Tech students in an Art 1 class with Ms. Chisholm designed and painted an image for a skateboard deck. These 10 students were then selected by popular vote to have their painted image printed on a real skateboard deck. These maple wood boards printed by BoardPusher.com, are standard popsicle-shaped decks with pre-drilled holes for wheels. They can become usable skateboards if desired or can hang on the wall as a fine art painting.
This particular piece was designed by Evelyn Flores
Title: Galaxy of Wonders
Artist's Statement: I’ve always been lost in space, forgetting everything about this world. The astronaut symbolizes me getting lost in the cosmic wonder that is our universe. I chose to have saturn drip in the background because our galaxy will not exist forever. Saturn is slowly turning to liquid, forgetting its purpose and defying science. I’m lost in this world, so I look up at the sky and get lost in space all the more.
