The Allen Special Olympics Program
The Allen Special Olympics program provides year-round sports training, athletic competition and social opportunities to more than 150 athletes, ages 8 through adulthood, in Allen and the surrounding areas. Sports include: Aquatics, Basketball, Bocce, Bowling, Flag Football, Golf, Powerlifting, Tennis, Track & Field, and Volleyball. Volunteers serve as coaches and committee members to administer the program. Fundraising provides the much-needed resources that permit us to purchase equipment and uniforms, utilize training facilities and enables athlete attendance at competitions held at the local, regional, state and national levels. In addition, at least two family banquets are held annually providing an opportunity for the Delegation to recognize the athletes’ effort, determination, growth, and accomplishments achieved through individual and team competition.
Our goals are to recruit more coaches and volunteers, offer even more sporting opportunities and reach more athletes and their families.
If you would like to learn more about the program, make a donation, volunteer, coach, know of a person who may want to become an athlete, or provide suggestions for the 18th Annual “Special Angels Among Us” Benefit Dinner and Auction in 2016, please do not hesitate to contact us at allensocommunicate@gmail.com. Please reference ASO Supporter or Potential Athlete (whichever applies) in your email subject line.
