Item Description
Original art by Brown School alum Joey Salvo which is a collage of nine photos, entitled "Sea Snow."
In the early 20th century, scientist and Vermont farmer Wilson Bentley used photography and a microscope to capture the beauty of snowflakes. I learned about him while at Brown School, and I remember searching through grids of his pictures, trying to find two flakes that looked alike. I'm glad I've had the chance to honor Bentley's work in my own. The photographs I shot for this piece suggest that snow looks a bit different in the tropics, but that the patterns remain one of a kind.
Original artwork. 5x7 photo on glass.
