Item Description
Surgi Doll created by Emily Norry: Watercolour, thread.
This hand painted doll is covered in violets and sprigs of lavender. These two flowers have been historically associated with queer women. Violets from Sappho's poetry inspired women to gift violets to show their affection. Lavender an image of Lesbian Feminism. Together the flowers resemble tattoos, showing the memory of queer history.
