ABOUT THE BUSINESS: Growing up, the food on the table came from the garden out front or the neighbor down the road. It was grown, slaughtered, traded, and less frequently, bought. I began making ceramics with a similar practice in mind: to make the pieces that I'd use for food and food preparation everyday. This meant wide low bowls for big salads, creamers for fresh dressings, and citrus presses for cocktails in exchange for artwork, bodywork, or donations to nonprofits at the front lines of social change. By sinking my hands into the earth, I am moving away from the systems that distance me from it, creating works and an alternative business model built around intention, nourishment, gratitude, and interconnectedness. I aim to make ceramics that feel right in size, weight, and shape and my minimal use of glaze leaves much of the raw clay visible as a reminder of the earth in your hands and at your table.
