Malachite is known worldwide as the Midwife Stone or Doula Stone. Malachite is believed to facilitate childbirth by lessening labor pain while increasing contractions. Not only is it said to assist birth in this way, but is also believed to protect by decreasing blood pressure, alleviating feelings of negativity and defeat (which can be quite common during childbirth) and increasing mental strength. This is a stone of transition, growth and protection.
Obsidian is actually a glass that's created by the abrupt cooling of volcanic lava. It is said to dissolve doubt and fear and provide a feeling of grounding. Obsidian is believed to increase focus and awareness while providing overall protective support. This is a stone commonly used by midwives and doulas, as Obsidian is said to be directly aligned with feminine strength and power.
