Item Description

Framed lithograph of a panoramic bird's eye view of Harvard University in 1906 by famed American artist Richard Rummell. Capturing the spirit of the University at the turn of the century, the earliest and most iconic buildings at Harvard are featured: Wadsworth House, Boylston Hall, Grays Hall, Weld Held, Memorial Hall, Massachusetts Hall, and more.

Littig & Company commissioned the accomplished artist Richard Rummell (1848-1924) to create watercolors of some of the nations most prestigious colleges. From these watercolors, copper-plates were engraved and a limited number of pulls (engravings) were distributed.

Unlike other college views of the period, Rummell created glorious panoramic views of the entire campus. Art historians speculate that since the views appear to be drawn from an altitude of about 300 ft., it is likely that the artist worked from a balloon.

Slight damage to corners of frame.

39" (W) x 25.5" (H)
