Item Description

Winemaker, Heidi Barrett has blended small lots from some of the finest vineyard blocks on the eastern side of Napa Valley to deliver an incredible array of aromas and flavors. The composition of 2011 Vin Perdu is 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Syrah, 11% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc from the Amuse Bouche, La Sirena, Au Sommet and Lamborn estates.

The 2011 Vin Perdu label is inspired by the Year of the Snake. An ancient Chinese proverb states that a snake in the house is a good omen because it means the family will not starve. The snake, cunning, keen and intelligent, is willing to sacrifice his possessions (such as they are) in order to pay for his family's food and wine!

The Winemaker - Heidi Peterson Barrett
It could be said that Heidi Barrett was born into wine making. Her father was a noted winemaker who worked for several wineries including E & J Gallo Winery and Beaulieu Vineyards in St. Helena, California where he worked under Andre Tchelistcheff.

Heidi had internships in both the German and Australian wine industries and became head winemaker for Buehler Vineyards at age 25.  Heidi has continued to grow her career and has five times had her wines awarded 100 points by wine critic Robert Parker who calls her "the First Lady of Wine".  She has been a wine judge at various competitions over the last 20 years, was president of Napa Valley Wine Tech, and has graced the covers of both The Wine News and The Wine Enthusiast.
