"Great Girls in Michigan History" includes aviator Nancy Harkness Love, baseball player Marilyn Jenkins, and Native-American writer Jane Johnston Schoolcraft, as well as First Lady Betty Bloomer Ford, Motown star Diana Ross, and tennis champion Serena Williams to name just a few. Among the "Bold Boys in Michigan History" are cartoonist Winsor McCay, disc jockey Casey Kasem, and boxer Joe Louis, plus inventor Thomas Edison, baseball player Jim Abbott, and musician Jack White among others.
