The Sportsmen’s Tennis Ball will be held on Friday, November 18th at Lombardo’s in Randolph, MA.
We have an all-star line-up of honorees who reflect the principles upon which Sportsmen’s was founded. Katrina Adams, current President, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of the US Tennis Association will accept the Tennis Trailblazer award. Ms. Adams is the first African American and first former professional tennis player to serve in this role. Award winning Boston Globe Staff Writer Patricia Wen will accept the Distinguished Member award. Ms. Wen has won numerous awards for her reporting on family and social issues, and has twice been a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. And Sportsmen’s Juniors will pay tribute to the late Bud Collins, recipient of our Community Builder Award.
Our committee has two outstanding honorary co-chairs. Journalist, TV and radio talk show host Emily Rooney will be joined by Touré, a Sportsmen’s alum and renowned writer, music journalist, cultural critic, and television personality.
Our children will tell the Sportsmen’s story in their own words as they pay tribute to our honorees. New and longstanding Sportsmen’s supporters from the corporate, civic and non-profit communities, and friends from all over Greater Boston will mingle and peruse creative auction items that please the palate, improve our tennis, and create lasting memories. We’ll end the night on the dance floor, with live entertainment from Athene Wilson Glover and Friends, winner of multiple Urban Music and Rising Star awards.
