With humble beginnings, St. John of God Community Services has grown from few into an entire community, vibrant with mission.  Five Hospitaller Brothers ventured from Ireland to New Jersey in Ireland to New Jersey in 1965 at the request of Archbishop Damiano of the Diocese of Camden, where they were tasked with starting a school for children with developmental disabilities.  What started in an old convent in the parking lot of an area church has grown tenfold into St. John of God Community Services.

For over 50 years, Archbishop Damiano School at St. John of God Community Services has continued to provide comprehensive services and programs to recipients of all ages, with an emphasis on compassion and dignity. Programs offered include Archbishop Damiano School, Early Intervention Program, Here We Grow Learning Center, and Adult Services. In addition to providing educational and therapeutic support, St. John of God Community Services offers religious education through the Faith Formation program which offers religious education classes necessary to take part in the holy sacraments of Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation.
