Make Your Bid to Support (YOUR MISSION or ORGANIZATION)!

Now is your chance to not only get all the great items you want, but to do it knowing you are helping support our organization and mission.

TPS is a 501(c)3 non-profit. Recently our organization was presented with a great opportunity and we have risen to the challenge. In 2015 we were gifted with a rather large building capable of housing workshops and shows for all kinds of artists. The building has a large open work space, a kitchen and a reception area. The building is 2852 square feet sitting on a .41 of an acre.

However with great opportunity comes great challenges. The City of Tucson has advised us that we must have bathrooms that are handicap accessible. The bathrooms are ancient and will require a major overhaul to accommodate these requirements.

We are a small arts organization set up in the historical tradition of pastel societies.  A pastel society’s primary purpose is to promote the advancement and recognition of the use of pastels as a fine art medium. This tradition goes back to the early 1800’s. In America, the American Pastel Society was started in 1972 with the International Pastel Society following in 1994.

The Tucson Pastel Society is membership driven i.e. 100% volunteer by artists passionate about the pastel medium. We gather to support our learning and skill in the medium. When we were given the building we had an opportunity to expand our thinking as well as our mission. How can we share this gift with the rest of the Tucson art community? Many of us are life time artists. We know how difficult it is to find and keep art space.

For the present our mission statement has not been updated to include this new direction as we feel we cannot fully embrace this until we are compliant with bathrooms accessible to all,

as the liability is too great. However our goal is to support the Tucson art community by providing access to low cost art space for local art organizations who do good work on shoe string budgets.

Paintings were donated by renowned artists from many mediums.
