Kids Feeding Kids

100% of the Heart of the City Race's net proceeds benefit the Kids Feeding Kids program at the Boys and Girls Club!

In fall 2006, Brad Rixmann of Burnsville-based Pawn America approached leaders of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Twin Cities to discuss the Kids Feeding Kids (KFK) initiative to help solve a serious hunger problem plaguing local children. Many Club kids do not eat nutritious meals during the evenings or when school is closed. The KFK program provides Club kids a free, nutritious, family-style meal five evenings per week and on all school release days during the school year. They learn important skills, both culinary and service to others through preparing, serving and cleaning up. KFK kitchens in the Twin Cities and Rochester clubs have served more than 150,000 nutritious meals every year!
