Third Annual Fresh Start Gala
The 2018 Fresh Start Gala will be held on February 22, 2018 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the offices of Porter Wright Morris & Arthur. The Gala will feature an online auction, great appetizers provided by The Refectory, beer, wine, soft drinks – and, most importantly, the opportunity to mingle with your friends and colleagues, and learn more about LASC and the services it offers. All proceeds will benefit LASC's Pro Bono Bankruptcy Program.
The Pro Bono Bankruptcy Program and the Bankruptcy By-Pass Clinic began in 2012 at the suggestion of Judge John Hoffman. Under the direction of LASC, these programs – with the help of volunteer attorneys – provide individuals and families facing economic hardships with access to the bankruptcy system and, as a result, a “Fresh Start”, without the worry of overwhelming debt obligations. LASC’s pro bono attorneys also have helped prevent utility shut-offs, stop wage garnishments, reinstate drivers’ licenses, and provide much needed relief from creditor calls for elderly and disabled individuals.

LASC is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization created by the Columbus Bar Association in 1954 to provide legal aid in civil matters and to ensure access to justice for economically disadvantaged people in Central Ohio living at or below 200 percent of poverty. Your contribution to and support of the Gala will enable LASC to continue providing access to justice for everyone, regardless of ability to pay.
