Join the Longwood Symphony Orchestra on October 27th as we celebrate the Healing Art of Music!

Beautiful, engaging music is far more than notes on a page. In the same way, the Longwood Symphony Orchestra is far more than musicians on a stage. Our musicians are physicians, nurses, therapists, scientists and more who bring music and medicine together. Music inspires us to draw together, engage the community at large, and embrace music as a healing force. You're invited to share this experience with us.

On October 27th at the Boston Hyatt Regency, we're celebrating the Longwood Symphony Orchestra and one of its most cherished leaders, Dr. Stephen C. Wright. As a bassoonist, Steve's bass notes have set the musical tone for the orchestra for nearly 30 years. As a leader in Boston's medical community and former Board Chair of the LSO, Steve's wisdom and humanity have drawn the Longwood medical and arts communities together in harmony.

We are also celebrating our award-winning Healing Art of Music Program, a unique community partnership program established in 1997. This program has set Longwood Symphony Orchestra apart from other arts organizations for over twenty years. Through the Healing Art of Music, we have helped community-based medical nonprofits raise much-needed funds and awareness.

Become an event partner!

The LSO has a lot to celebrate, and we’re inviting YOU to be a special part of the celebration. We’re currently seeking partners for the event, and we’d be thrilled to add you and/or your organization to the list!

Why support the LSO and attend this special evening?

  • The award-winning orchestra has garnered a national reputation as a leader in the integration of music, medicine, and community service. Our musician members represent 17 hospitals across New England and all three Boston medical schools.
  • During the 2017-2018 season, we collaborated with four stellar organizations that bring healthcare to our most medically vulnerable. Together, our music helped raise nearly $325,000 to help support their programs.
  • New orchestras and ensembles are springing up in medical schools and hospitals across the country as the next generation of young musicians in healthcare are inspired by LSO’s work.
