The Northwest Austin Circle of Friends is proud to be celebrating our 21st year of raising funds and awareness for Dell Children’s Medical Center. This state-of-the-art facility offers children in a 46-county service area access to a full continuum of care from the area’s prime pediatric specialists - regardless of their family’s ability to pay. With the generous support from the community, our volunteer group has successfully raised close to a million dollars!
WORK HAS ALREADY BEGUN at Dell Children’s Medical Center to convert an existing wing of the hospital into an inpatient behavioral health unit and the vision will soon become a reality! Currently in Central Texas, children with mental health issues have very few options for inpatient care. The prevalence of mental health disorders among youth in Central Texas, and in our nation, is a true public health crisis. Studies show that 10-20% of our children and adolescents have a diagnosable mental health disorder. To meet this increasing need in our community, Dell Children’s will create a place where children and adolescents with emotional, developmental, and behavioral challenges can get the care they need in a safe environment specifically designed for kids. It is an honor for the Northwest Austin Circle of Friends to partner with the Dell Children’s team in this endeavor, and as such, will devote all of our efforts to this new hospital wing.
