"We were reading a rhyming book and we decided to sing the words while snapping our fingers. His smile just lit up the room!" ~Warren Bow Elementary School volunteer
From May 21, 2018 at 9PM until May 31, 2018 at 9 PM, Read to a Child will be auctioning off a number of fun and unique items to raise money for the Lunchtime Reading Program. In the program, an adult is partnered one-on-one with an at-risk elementary school student for a rewarding read aloud experience during the child’s lunch break. The relationship typically lasts for the entire school year and often extends for multiple years through the end of fourth grade. The simple act of reading aloud to a child once a week, over time, can have a profound impact on the child’s future.
You can create lasting memories for students while also enhancing their literacy skills by supporting Read to a Child's Lunchtime Reading program. Every dollar raised in our silent auction will be used to expand our programming to underresourced schools throughout Metro Detroit.
