Welcome to the Matthew Smith Memorial Golf Outing Online Auction!
After tremendous success (and fun) over the last 15 years of the OI Golf Classic hosted by Teresa & Ken Gudek, we are excited to announce this tournament has relocated to the Manchester Country Club golf course. If you attended the OI Golf Classic in the last few years, you may have had the opportunity to meet OI Foundation board member Jim Early and his grandson, Matthew Smith driving around in a golf cart or on the 18th green where Matthew was no doubt regaling individuals with quotes from one of his favorite movies - Caddy Shack.
Sadly, Matthew lost his battle with OI late last year. In honor of Matthew, the OI Golf Classic has been renamed The Matthew Smith Memorial Golf Outing. We hope you can join us for its inaugural year and to support the mission of the OI Foundation.
All proceeds from this golf outing will go directly to the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping people with osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) and their families. OI is a rare and complex genetic disorder of the collagen that is often characterized by fragile bones. Symptoms include brittle bones and teeth, spine curves, hearing loss, respiratory problems, cardiac issues and muscle weakness. OI is highly variable ranging from a mild form with few fractures to a form that is lethal at birth. There is no cure for OI, but thanks to the efforts of the OI Foundation, there are now treatments available to manage symptoms, minimize fractures, enhance independent function and promote general health.
